Woman Defends $130 Engagement Ring That Store Employee Called ‘Pathetic’.

One couple is showing the world that love has no price tag, despite a world that celebrates lavish weddings and expensive luxury.

Ariel Desiree McRae and her then boyfriend Quinn were ready to get married, after two years of dating. Both Quinn and Ariel, a student studying to be a teacher, struggled to pay bills, and while Ariel said she didn’t need a ring, Quinn insisted.

The happy couple went to Pandora Jewelry to pick out Ariel’s rings: a $130 sterling silver and cubic zirconia set.

Their special moment, though, was marred when a sales associate said, “Can you believe that some men get these as engagement rings? How pathetic.”

Quinn’s face fell as he listened to the clerk. “He already felt like a failure, asking me again and again ‘Are you sure you’ll be happy with these? Are you sure this is okay?'” Ariel wrote in a Facebook post defending her husband. “He was so upset at the idea of not making me happy enough and of me not wanting to marry him because my rings didn’t cost enough money or weren’t flashy enough.”

A week later, Ariel and Quinn went to their local courthouse in Tennessee and got married — without going into debt over an expensive wedding or ring. They hope to adopt children when they’re ready, and plan to honeymoon in Montana next year, according to Today.

Ariel’s ring may have been inexpensive, but she and Quinn still begin their married life with a strong foundation of love. “I would have gotten married to this man if it had been a 25-cent gum ball machine ring,” Ariel wrote.”It isn’t the ring that matters, it is the love that goes into buying one.”
