After Navy vet saves grandma from brutal attack, Ellen refuses to accept he can’t make ends meet.

It was broad daylight when a 76-year-old woman was attacked in the middle of a Winn-Dixie parking lot in Florida. A young man tried to steal her purse, roughing her up, but he ran off without before he could take her bag from her, jumping on his bike to ride away.

A Navy veteran named Kendrick Taylor was on his way to the gym when he heard the woman screaming, then saw how the thief pushed her against a car. Kendrick ran after the thief, tackled him and held him down while he called the police.

Kendrick’s story went viral, and for his good deed he got the Medal of Merit from the Orlando Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

Ellen DeGeneres also invited Kendrick onto her show. Ellen is known for her amazing surprises — and she had a few for Kendrick — but she had a special one for him waiting backstage.
