Most teachers and professors know that it isn’t just your knowledge that makes you a good educator — you need to be just as creative and passionate in your delivery to get the attention of often bored, challenging students.
Science teacher Moises Vazquez has a unique way of engaging with his students at the National Autonomous University of Mexico — he wears a Spider-Man costume in the classroom. Everyday he teaches, Moises wears the red-and-blue spandex full bodysuit.
Moises says he was inspired after reading a Spider-Man comic where the superhero appeared in front of a classroom. In real life, his students and fellow teachers were puzzled. But eventually Moises persevered, and his students grew to love the sense of fun he brought to his class.
But Moises also wants to bring joy and playfulness to his job for himself.
“I do the same job as anyone else, I don’t think it’s the best class in the world just because I put on a suit,” he says. “But I assure you I want to be the most honest and dedicated there is, I just want to make the classroom a better place.”
Watch Moises prove that teachers — and others who help us learn — are the best superheros of all…
