Meet the 4-year-old who’s read more than 1,000 books.

Daliyah Marie Arena loved books and reading from an early age. When she was a baby, her mother read to her older brother in their home in Gainesville, Georgia, and began reading to Daliyah from birth. By the time she was 18 months old, she recognized words in the book her mom read to her. By the time she was almost 3, Daliyah could read books on her own.

Now just 4 years old, Daliyah has read over 1,000 books, including certain college-level ones. She has a passion for literature, which led her to an opportunity to shadow Carla Hayden, the 14th Librarian of Congress. It was a wondrous opportunity for the little bookworm.

“She just kept saying how the Library of Congress is her most favorite, favorite, favorite library in the whole wide world,” Haleema Arana, her mother, told The Washington Post.

Listen to Daliyah’s story below, and see just how far a love of books and an adventurous sense of curiosity can take you…
