Daughter is born with rare bone condition. 17 years later, she says her looks don’t define her.

Halle Hofman is 17 years old, but she has already had 21 surgeries, 17 of which were facial ones.

The Star, Idaho-based teen was born with Pfeiffer syndrome, a rare genetic disorder where certain bones in the head and face prematurely fuse together before the child has fully stopped growing.

As a result, Halle has dealt with strangers’ stares — and even bullying — from a very young age.

But she doesn’t let the adversity and pain get her down, focusing on being her best self and maintaining a positive spirit. She also does a lot of philanthropic work, wanting to give back to others less fortunate than herself.

“I want people to know that looks don’t define the person — it is how you act and what you do,” Halle told Caters TV. “Pfeiffer syndrome has helped define who I am by helping me gain strength and courage and faith. Pfeiffer has really helped shape me into who I am.”
