Hundreds gather to give tear-filled goodbye to hero military dog.

10-year-old service dog Cena worked for years as a bomb sniffer, serving alongside Marines to keep them safe. After various tours, Cena retired and was eventually adopted by fellow Marine Jeff DeYoung, who said Cena helped him deal with post-traumatic stress disorder.

So when Cena got bone cancer, Jeff made sure to treat the dog to a ‘bucket list’ of wonderful experiences before saying goodbye. And even at the end, Jeff made sure Cena got the ultimate farewell: a hero’s military funeral, in honor of Cena’s service.

“My whole adult life I’ve had Cena,” Jeff said. “When I was 19 overseas learning how to be responsible, I had Cena. “And now I’m 27 and I’m having to say goodbye to one of the biggest pieces of my life.”
