Filmmaker Elizabeth Lo tells the story of a Line 22, a public bus that transforms into an unofficial shelter for the homeless of Silicon Valley.
Line 22 shuttles between San Jose and Palo Alto 24 hours a day. Known colloquially as "Hotel 22," the homeless pay the fare to ride it at night along its hour-and-a-half route -- getting off at each end, riding it several times back and forth.
The practice has gone on for years.
"I heard about this phenomenon while living in Palo Alto as a student at Stanford University," Lo said. "I hope this film is a window into this nation’s inequities that can so easily go unseen."
