Miley Cyrus performs moving Las Vegas tribute song on ‘Tonight Show’.

Miley Cyrus began her week-long residency on ‘The Tonight Show’ with emotional tributes to the victims of the Las Vegas mass shooting, which left 59 dead and more than 500 injured.

Instead of promoting her new record ‘Younger Now,’ she performed Dido’s ‘No Freedom’ with actor Adam Sandler on guitar and background vocals.

The performance was unexpected and yet moving, with a raw vocal and sensitive harmonizing provided by Adam.

She also ended the show with a performance of her 2009 hit ‘The Climb,’ a song she hasn’t performed live on stage in six years.

She later explained why she sang ‘No Freedom’.

“There is no love without freedom,” the singer told host Jimmy Fallon. “I think about that when these tragic events happen because what is music if we can’t go see our favorite artists perform because we’re scared of violence? Or we’re scared of losing someone that we love to go to a concert or to go see a film? We’re supposed to be the land of the free, but we can’t have freedom if we’re constantly living in fear.”
