Barber goes above the call of duty to ensure child with autism gets amazing haircut.

Wyatt Lafreniere is a 6-year-old who has autism, and as a result, many barbers refused to cut his hair because he’s highly sensitive to sound and touch.

“He doesn’t like his hair to be touched and a lot of sounds are aggressive for him,” Wyatt’s mom Fauve Lafreniere told ABC News.

But then she met Franz Jakob, a barber in Quebec near where Wyatt lives. The barber was sympathetic to Wyatt’s story and invited them to his shop.

45-year-old Franz has been cutting hair since he was 12, and has much experience cutting hair of children with disabilities and even terminally ill patients, who he doesn’t charge.

“I’m trying to take care of all my clients. It’s in my nature to go the extra mile,” he said to ABC News. “There’s no difference for me if I’m doing a popular singer or if I’m doing Wyatt. I’m doing what I need to do to… get a real nice haircut, honestly. That’s what it’s all about.”

He takes special care with kids like Wyatt, scheduling extra time at the end of the day. He begins their sessions in a relaxed way, by playing games or eating candy. He’ll even get on the floor to cut their hair — a moment captured on Facebook that went viral earlier this fall.

“So I put the mirror in front of him and I finished what I was doing,” Franz said. “It’s an honor for me to do all of this.”

“Anyone can make a difference with an open mind and love,” Wyatt’s mom said.
