Little boy belts out ‘Rise Up’ solo. When his classmates join, you’ll get chills.

The choir at Baltimore’s Cardinal Shehan School may be only elementary and middle school students. But that doesn’t mean they can’t belt out a powerful tune that belies their young ages.

The whole choir is remarkable, but soloists Kai Young, John Page, Bryana Hardison and Carlyse Blackwell — who all range from fourth to sixth grade — brought incredible emotion and passion to Andra Day’s powerful anthem ‘Rise Up’.

Choir director Kenyatta Hardison decided to stream their rehearsal of Andra Day’s ‘Rise Up’ one day. She thought the idea of an audience would add just a bit more ‘oomph’ to their performance — but little did she know that the kids’ impromptu performance would go viral.
