A hot girl invites a nerdy guy to her home to hook up. To his surprise, she has bigger plans.

Filmmaker Shant Hamassian offers a smart, visceral take on the 80s slasher film, as a young woman tries to outwit — and take down — a demented killer who follows the traditional horror-movie playbook.

Jenelle, played by Lily Berlina, is dancing around the house in her underwear, seemingly getting ready for a date.

Yet the scar around her neck reveals this is no ordinary romantic encounter. It’s part of her plan to commit every “horror movie sin” in the book — drinking, drugs and having sex — to lure a murderous psycho to her house and take him down.

This thriller features nervy, skillful camerawork — and a creepy killer wearing a Star Trek “Spock” mask. Hamassian ratchets up the tension with a “shot in one take” feel that spotlights the actors’ deft performances.

Beyond the well-crafted chills and thrills, the movie operates with keen intelligence. Like its meta-horror brethren — think the “Scream” franchise and “The Cabin In the Woods” — it plays to traditional horror fan expectations while offering a clever, ominous twist on the genre.

“Night of the Slasher” is a smart, subversive horror movie perfect for Halloween — with an ending that will leave viewers wanting more.
