Directors Blair Macdonald and Oliver Clark go deep into the desert heart of Australia to meet the people who call it home in this rich, immersive documentary short.
The filmmaking team traveled from Alice Springs to Adelaide, stopping at towns, bars, campsites and other locales on the way. At each destination, they captured conversations and images that are both earthy and poetic.
The rural Australians portrayed run the gamut, and talk about everything and nothing under the sun. But while they may live in an area of the world that not many people will see, their experiences and POVs are still filled with wisdom, humor and insight.
The pace and tone are lyrical, intimate and meditative, but what emerges over the course of 20 minutes is a beautiful tapestry of community -- and a rich portrait of humanity in all its range and depth.
