Sea Devil

By Dean C. Marcial and Brett Potter | Horror
A fisherman tries to smuggle Cubans into Miami. But something lurks on the ocean floor.

Filmmakers Dean C. Marcial and Brett Potter offer a scary, startling horror-movie riff on the traditional immigrant story.

A fishing boat full of would-be immigrants traverses the waters between Cuba and Florida, its occupants in search of a better, freer life.

The refugees fear getting caught by any number of official government agencies. But when a strange, unexpected guest arrives on the boat, his appearance portends something more terrifying than any of them can imagine.

Like many great horror films, “Sea Devil” relies on an effective, intelligent sense of craft — great images, brilliant sound design and empathetic but economical performances — to pull an audience in.

A frightening, near-mythic antagonist and taut, tense narrative does the rest — guaranteeing a scary journey any horror fan will love.
